SM Caen 2017-18 Home Football Shirt

Stade Malherbe Caen, simply known as SM Caen or Caen, is a professional French football team. It was named after François de Malherbe, a famous poet, critic and translator. Founded on 17 November 1913, Caen played games in Ligue 2, the second division of French football. The club currently competes in Ligue 1, top league in French. The two divisions make up the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP).

The club often plays its home games at Stade Michel d’Ornano with a capacity of 20,453 people which was built in 1993 and was named after Michel d’Ornano, a French politician. France national team and the U-21 team have occasionally played games here. Like other stadiums, fans are able to visit Stade Michel d’Ornano, including the dressing rooms, VIP areas, dug-outs, and pitch. The whole tour lasts 90 minutes and you will also enjoy the amazing and exciting atmosphere although there are no games being held. You can check the official website for actual dates and bookings if you are going there.

Caen’s crest has been changed several times. The latest club crest brings a brand new look to the club, at the same time, it is also loyal to the club’s tradition. The red and blue stripes in the shield use the core colors of the club, and the Viking’s head is shown for the first time, representing “Norman” and “Conqueror” that symbolize the closer connection between the club and society. The new badge shows the club’s full name “Stade Malherbe Caen”, and the year “1913” also appears in the badge.

Steve Savidan is a French retired striker who has played for Caen. He was called up to France national team at the age of 30 and played a home match against Uruguay.

In 2004, the coach of Valenciennes called him to the club. “I met the right person at the right time. It is Daniel Leclercq,” said Savidan, “This team is very suitable for me. Everyone trusts each other.” He began to work hard and performed well in following seasons. He scored 19 goals in the Division 3 and helped Valenciennes upgrade to the second division. 16 goals in second season made the club play games in Ligue 1.

The 2017-18 home shirt was unveiled jointly by Umbro and SM Caen. The distinctive red and blue stripes are the core elements of the club’s image. Umbro designers place four narrow red stripes on the front of the navy blue jersey, which looks stylish and elegant. New and exquisite club crest is printed on the chest. Umbro classic diamond patterns appear on the shoulders and sleeves.

Like the design of the shirts designed for previous seasons, the new home jersey proudly displays two lions at the back of the collar and the club’s slogan “Normands & Conquerants (Normans and Conquerors)”.

Breathable and comfortable fabric makes players cool and dry, so they can focus on games.

The brand new shorts are red and the socks are navy blue with “umbro” and “SM CAEN”.
